EDALCO
An architecture studio with head architect Eduardo Arjona Goldbound a veteran architect with very extensive work experience, highly respected in the city of Tijuana.
Consisted of 3 months of internship, with a focus in editing existing blueprints in AutoCAD, making new blueprints using X-ref. Making 3D models with Sketch Up, creating renders and rendered videos. Making presentations to clients alongside the head architect.
Gracia Studio
An architecture studio with head architect Jorge Gracia well known in the region for his projects such as “Encuentro Guadalupe” in wine country Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California Mexico. And many more.
Consisted of two consecutive 3-month long internships, for a total of 6 months of internship. Throughout the internship I got to experience designing conceptual interventions to ongoing projects, receiving feedback from more experienced architects, I created handmade models used as conceptual studies of architectural concepts, used new tools of rendering for the first time; using Enscape to design landscape interventions for ongoing projects, to populate 3D models with objects and people. In some cases, I got the experience of creating specific 3D models from real unique furniture that was to be used in the actual project, these 3D models were then processed into a simplified 3D versions called an asset.
I got to work on a variety of projects, from a home in San Diego, a 14 story office building with mixed use in Tijuana and even a contest that we won in Los Angeles for a restaurant. Throughout all the projects I had a supporting role in the studio being a part of a team made of 10 architects. During this time my internship ended, and seeing as how the office had a lot of work to do and the workflow was ideal Jorge Gracia asked for an extension of my time there, a month was bargained, but it would actually last 2 months.
Through the next 2 months I worked as part of Gracia Studio no longer as an intern, during that time I was exclusively participating in the Disney project. I made 3D models of existing architecture; analyzed current landscape, buildings, urban design, objects and materials amongst other concepts. After analysis I played a major role in making the 3D models and past the existing geometry, I got to bring to life custom furniture designed in conceptual drawings and conversation by Jorge Gracia, I got to implement my newly acquired knowledge of Encape assets to diversify the model yet maintain a low and manageable file size.
Yuxta
An architecture studio with head architect Maximiliano Yi a young up coming and very talented human being.
Consisted of 2 months of work, with a focus in the creation of blueprints working directly with the head architect Maximiliano Yi, listening to his constant feedback and reinterpreting his conceptual design drawings into formal definitive architecture drawings. My stay in this studio was very interesting as all work revolved around a virgin piece of land and my participation was mostly related to an urban analysis and projection of the main entrance, internal roads, and parking space where we both agreed that the American standard was the best to apply in these situations. The end result was an interesting design with a nature considered vision and quality focused organization.
For the first time I had a direct back and forth with my head architect participating partially in the design and not just the projection. Also, a very interesting workspace situation, where due to covid we worked a lot at a distance, from home and at times in random locations, such as coffee shops.
Peninsula
Plaza Peninsula is a project by a real estate developer in Tijuana, the original design was made by the architecture studio JERDE in Los Angeles under the developers request. I worked as a Project Architect for 6 months in a branch of the developers company called CDT which handled tenants architecture projects, as a project architect I contributed by creating 3D models and renders.
During this time I got to design many conceptual projects, some of which are built today.
After 6 months of designing projects I got raised into the position of Project Supervisor where I recieve and review any new project in the plaza by a tenant on the lease. Following guidelines of the plaza’s designer I criticise and demand changes where needed to comply with the plaza’s conceptual design. I create leasing files and blueprints for each project, as well as any blueprint that the company needs for its internal operations. I still get to work on projects by creating blueprints, 3D models, renders, amongst other things.
I want to thank everyone who taught me and gave me time and attention.
