NEST

Life finds a way, most creatures on the face of this planet are born capable of independence from day one, but there are some that are born too vulnerable.

Where there is a necessity there is a solution, in the vast diversity and wisdom of nature there is a few beings capable of modifying its surroundings, most of the times it's for the sake of protecting their most valuable possession… their offspring.

I find that nests are truly intriguing as a fellow creator. Birds specifically weave a variety of structures with the bare minimum of whatever is at hand. Always taking advantage of their habitat to maximize their survivability, choosing the right place to build, collecting the desired and available material to effectively build a home.

Conceptualizing solutions to your problems with what is at hand for your ideal home.

We provide a variety of projects and services, but we prefer to share our design through conceptual drawings and images. Our design is always focused on giving solutions and extra details that help better the quality of life.

Project -01

This was one of my first serious projects as a student, where a client asked me to make a distribution for an office space, along with some basic renders for representation.

Creating a project not only for the satisfaction of the client architecturally, but also considering the client's needs in its presentation.

In this specific project, the client needed a conceptual distribution of a rental space he owned, which was not being used, and was tempted to use himself as his own office. The distribution was made as requested, presented in blueprints with measurements, and with renders for better visualization of the project.

But most importantly all images were edited to be seen and presented through the phone, each image cropped and worked on with Illustrator. It was a very educational experience in project presentation.

Project 00

This could have been my first project as a recent graduate, but the client backed out due to economic stress. The project was paused indefinitely.

Non the less it was an important experience, the project involved the design of a grill area, with shade, considering their need for a proper garage space, proper integration of a water reserve tank, and as a solution to a visible problem we integrated as many storage spaces as possible by taking advantage of the terrain's natural inclination through multiple levels.

The client’s wife wanted to have a home office, as she’s a masseuse and wanted to take advantage of their need to fix up their garage and garden to consider and integrate a business of her own.

The first project which involved a mixed space; home and office, where I had full design capabilities.

The project initialized as a patio/garage modification, but quickly evolved to include a home office space.

It was very educational as it was my first time as a graduate where I was the head architect and had full responsibility for a project.

Project 01

My first project as a graduate was a simple landscape project. Involved the design, calculation and representation of a simple SOG (slab on ground) and an outdoor grill area.

Achieving the client’s needs without complex processes, focused on conceptual and construction detail blueprints.

This specific project was one that was achieved very quickly, the client knew exactly what he wanted, and had very simple requirements to begin his patio re modeling.

It was an excellent learning experience as it was the very first project that I single handedly designed that is currently being processed for construction, but most importantly it is situated in Chula Vista California, which has many codes and considerations that I had to read and become familiar with.

All projects here, design and all post-production were made by Nest Studio’s head architect Carlos de la Madrid and represent the quality and broad knowledge in tools and concepts that the studio seeks to achieve in its projects.
